How it works

One campaign, seen from both sides

A brand posts a campaign with a budget. Creators apply. The brand picks who films it and funds their places. The creator films and uploads, the brand reviews it with one revision included, and the creator is paid to M-Pesa.

For creators

Free to join. You keep the rights agreed in the brief.

  1. Build a profile

Your name, county, the categories you film, a short bio, and links to work you have already made.

  2. Apply to an open campaign

Every campaign shows the pay, the number of creator places, the brief and the draft deadline before you apply.

  3. Get selected, then film

The brand picks you and funds your place before production starts, so you are never filming on a promise.

  4. Upload the cut

Upload from a phone or a laptop. The draft is due on the date shown on the campaign, usually seven days after selection.

  5. Handle one round of notes

If the brand asks for changes you get the notes in writing and upload a second cut. One revision is included.

  6. Get paid to M-Pesa

On a flat campaign you are paid the agreed fee on approval. On a per-view campaign you are paid as approved views are counted.

For brands

No subscription. You pay for the videos you approve.

  1. Post a campaign with a budget

Describe the product, the language, the video length, and what has to appear on screen. Set how many creators you want.

  2. Choose how you pay

A flat fee per creator, or a rate per block of views with a spend limit for the whole campaign.

  3. Pick from the applicants

You see each creator's profile and past work, select the ones you want, and fund their places.

  4. Review the draft

Approve it, or send it back once with written notes. Both cuts stay on the campaign so there is no argument about versions.

  5. Pay for approved work only

Payouts run against work you approved and stop dead at your spend limit. Anything unspent stays with you.

Payment

Two ways to pay for a video

A brand picks one when it posts the campaign. Creators see which one applies, and the numbers behind it, before they apply.

A flat fee per creator

You agree one price per video. When you approve a creator’s video, that creator is paid that fee. Three places at KES 4,000 each means the campaign costs at most KES 12,000, whatever the videos go on to do.

  • Use it when you need the footage itself: ads, product pages, email.
  • The creator knows the exact figure before filming.
  • Each place is funded before production starts.

Pay per views

You set a rate for a block of views — KES 30 for every 150 views — and a spend limit for the whole campaign. Views on the live post are counted and confirmed, and creators are paid one block at a time.

At KES 30 per 150 views, one creator earns:
Approved viewsCreator earns
150KES 30
1,500KES 300
15,000KES 3,000
  • Use it when you want reach: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts.
  • A video that keeps performing keeps earning for the creator.
  • Part-blocks carry over: 290 views pays one block, and the next 10 views pay the second.

The spend limit is a hard ceiling, not a forecast. A KES 45,000 limit pays out KES 45,000 across the whole campaign at most, however far the videos travel. When the limit is reached, counting stops and nothing further is owed. Anything you do not spend stays with you.

About

Who runs Take

Take is built and run in Nairobi by a small team that has spent years making short-form video for Kenyan brands. We built it because the work usually runs through WhatsApp threads, where nobody can say who owes what, which cut is the current one, or when payment is due.

Take comes out of Young Origins, the content studio that has been producing short-form video for Kenyan brands since 2024. The campaigns Young Origins ran before Take launched are counted in the totals shown on this page.

The platform is in its Kenyan pilot. If something here is unclear, or you want to bring a brand or an agency on, write to [email protected].
